3D Puff is a technical term in the embroidery industry that refers to placing a layer of foam beneath the embroidery pattern and covering it with stitches to create a three-dimensional, raised effect.

Before the embroidery machine begins operation, a piece of foam is placed on the fabric (typically in a color similar to the embroidery thread). The embroidery machine uses high-density stitching to cover the foam and cuts or flattens the edges along the perimeter. After completion, the excess foam is removed, leaving a distinct three-dimensional effect.
